China launches remote-sensing satellite
The remote-sensing satellite, "Yaogan X", is sent into space aboarda Long March 4C carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centerin Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, Aug. 10, 2010.The satellite is supposed to conduct scientific experiment, carry outsurveys on land resources, forecast grain output and play a role innatural disaster reduction and prevention. China on Tuesday successfully put into orbit another remote-sensingsatellite, "Yaogan X", from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center inNorthern Shanxi province.
The satellite was sent into space aboard a Long March 4C carrier rocket at 6:49 am (Beijing Time), according to the center.
The satellite will be used to conduct scientific experiment, carry outsurveys on land resources, estimate crops yield and help with naturaldisaster-reduction and prevention endeavor.
Its predecessor "Yaogan IX" was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwestern Gansu province in March.
